Health & Safety Advisor
Todd Energy

Reporting to the GM Health, Safety & Environment, you will play a key role in driving a positive safety culture, working closely with site managers, project teams, engineering staff, and external contractors.


This is an active, hands-on position where you will facilitate risk management practices, lead incident investigations, and support major hazard reviews to ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental care.


This role will be split between our New Plymouth office and site operations. Some travel to our remote sites will be required throughout the year.


Overview

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Model and reinforce safe behaviours with operational personnel, maintaining communication that actively supports leadership roles.
  • Assist with the implementation of Todd HSE management systems, monitor compliance with Safety Cases, and conduct audits and site inspections.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response documentation, including coordinating practical drills.
  • Monitor contractor performance and provide technical advice, coaching, and process improvement support.

Requirements

You are a seasoned HSE professional who thrives in an operational environment and enjoys being out on the frontline. You bring a collaborative, influential communication style that allows you to easily build rapport, listen effectively, and become a trusted advisor across all levels of the business.


As an energetic self-starter, you possess excellent organisational skills and the adaptability required to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced setting. You genuinely care about people and demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting a proactive, positive attitude toward health and safety.


Key requirements for the role:

  • 8+ or more years of relevant HSE experience, ideally within a production operations or heavy industry environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and specialised HSE training are preferred
  • In-depth understanding of HSE management systems, New Zealand health and safety legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Strong written communication, report writing, and data management capabilities, with prior experience in training delivery considered an advantage.
