The PPT is hiring! We have three permanent roles we are seeking to fill within our operational team.  

The Tari's role is to deliver outcomes set by Trustees and endorsed by the Parihaka community. 

Our priorities relate to Parihaka tikanga, people and whenua.  

We are a small team motivated to contribute to Parihaka’s development and wellbeing.  This is an opportunity for you to be part of this mahi.


Overview

Your role is to assist the Pou Hautū in the provision of administrative support services for all PPT Trust governance hui, excluding individual Kawe hui, and will include the taking of minutes. Currently PPT Trustees meet on the last Sunday of each month except for December. 


Other hui include:

  • AGM/SGM
  • Public hui
  • Community/Hapori hui

Your work will contribute to supporting Trustees to be effective governors and, in doing so, fostering community

confidence in the PPT.


Requirements

The capabilities you’ll be expected to have and/or nurture to a high level of proficiency are:

  • Knowledge of office and information management systems
  • Fluency in office productivity software such as Microsoft Office, NitroPro, Sharepoint and especially
  • software-as-a-service portals that enables PPT hui namely BoardPro, Zoom and Teams
  • Familiarity in the use of teleconferencing equipment
  • Knack for accurate but concise minute-taking and recording of decisions and agreed actions
  • Competency with social media and pānui distribution
  • Familiarity with te reo Māori and Taranaki mita to at least at beginner-intermediate level
  • Awareness of Māori Land Trusts and their administration and
  • Comfort in iwi, hapū and whānau Māori settings.

EXPERIENCE 

  • At least three years – preferably more – as the secretary at the pā, on your marae committee or for your hapū and for a local club will be a major advantage.

  • Whakapapa to Parihaka and iwi in the Taranaki region
  • Being discreet and respectful of the decision-making process
  • Listening attentively and holding confidentialities confidential
  • Being committed to lifting your knowledge and practice in tikanga and te reo Māori
  • Capable of identifying the essence of issues
  • Being alert to nuances and attentive to details
  • Exercising self-awareness and self-care and
  • Being well organised and able to self-manage and adhere to timeframes.

Parihaka is nearing the completion of a major infrastructure project that, once complete, will see the papakāinga positioned and ready to advance its moemoea and aspirations for the future. To enable Parihaka to advance those aspirations in a timely way, the Parihaka Papakāinga Trust is embarking on a recruitment programme to facilitate and deliver our projected growth and development.  Parihaka Papakāinga Trust is excited to invite applications to join the team on our haerenga whakamua.
