Rotating Equipment Specialist

Working under the guidance of our Rotating Equipment Lead Engineer, you will have the autonomy to plan and implement engineering solutions. From managing gas turbine hot gas path components to spearheading defect elimination, your work will ensure our facilities remain safe, environmentally sound, and highly effective.


Overview

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert mechanical support for rotating machinery and related static equipment to improve plant availability.
  • Manage high-value, long-lead-time critical spares and develop whole-of-life planning for key assets.
  • Support operations with troubleshooting, system modifications, and production optimisation.
  • Develop, lodge, and implement plant change requests while monitoring compliance with technical and statutory standards.
  • Work alongside multidisciplinary teams, procurement personnel, and engineering consultants to implement facility modifications and commissioning operations.
  • Act as a contract representative, actively managing supplier performance against technical deliverables.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) is preferred or demonstrated experience in complex industrial environments (e.g., Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Petrochemical).
  • At least 5 years of experience as an engineer in the energy sector, with a focus on gas turbine power generation or cogeneration.
  • Extensive experience with engines, turbines, compressors, and pumps within a functioning facility.
  • A deep understanding of process safety and engineering risk, particularly in complex or non-routine contexts.
  • A strong understanding of New Zealand’s regulatory processes, especially relating to pressure equipment and major hazard facilities.

Who we are

Todd Energy, a subsidiary of the Todd Group, is a producer of natural gas, providing more than 20% of New Zealand’s primary energy supply. Todd Energy is also responsible for operating and maintaining Todd’s generation assets, including gas peaking plants. We have offices across New Zealand, and our New Plymouth office is the primary home to the engineering and support teams for Todd. We have an active social calendar and celebrate cultural events throughout the year.
