Utilise your own Lived Experience (Alcohol and other drugs) to support whānau to navigate their journey within Addiction Health and Addiction Services (Tui Ora and Health NZ Taranaki). The service objectives are to provide goal and solution-centered interventions; acknowledging and raising the voice of whānau /whaiora.

Requirements

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will have:

  • Personal Experience with Mental Health and or Addiction challenges is essential.
  • Lived Experience of Addictions including having completed a rehabilitation programme and be abstinent from substance misuse.
  • An established Recovery Plan, with ongoing wellbeing strategies.
  • A minimum of two (2) years in recovery
  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) with strand in Mental Health and Addiction Support is desirable.
  • Current Peer Support training, up to date Wrap Plan or ability to obtain (training provided)
  • DAPAANZ registered or in a position to work towards
  • Knowledge of and demonstrate an understanding of recovery approach in AOD Services in line with Service User, Consumer and Peer Workforce document Te Pou (2014)
  • Experience or ability to demonstrate an understanding of whānau goals and recovery outcomes
  • An understanding of Whānau Ora outcomes
  • An understanding of Māori models of health and the application of the Treaty of Waitangi in practice
  • The ability to demonstrate practical understanding of the aspirations and challenges facing Māori communities
  • Experience in applying tikanga Māori as it applies in the role (desirable)
  • A full, clean NZ Driver Licence.
