Mō te tūranga | About the role:


The Kaiwhakarito is a trusted, whānau‑centred role that walks alongside hapū māmā and their whānau facing high or complex needs through pregnancy and early parenting. The role provides education, navigation and advocacy to strengthen maternal wellbeing, positive attachment, parenting confidence and whānau capability. The Kaiwhakarito works in partnership with maternity, Well Child / Tamariki Ora, and other early years services. The role is grounded in te ao Māori principles of hauora and strengths-based engagement, supporting whānau to determine their own pathways to ora.

Requirements

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in parenting support, working with hapū māmā and whānau in Hauora Māori or community-based settings
  • Knowledge of local kaupapa Māori or community, and social supports
  • Lived experience and strong community connections
  • First aid certificate
  • Full, clean NZ Driver Licence
  • Understands and role models Māori approaches to ora and wellbeing and Kaupapa Māori practice
  • Confident communicator who builds trust easily
  • Can work flexibly across services and settings
  • Organised and follows through on commitments
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Brings empathy, patience and respect to every interaction
