Guided by the kaupapa and values of Te Ataarangi, and in partnership with the Mātanga Reo, the Pou Whakarae leads the organisation to fulfil its Trust deed objectives: the revitalisation of te reo Māori and the holistic wellbeing of our communities. This role embodies Tuakiritanga, supporting individuals and communities to express their identity confidently through language, culture, and collective action.


The Pou Whakarae works in close collaboration with the Mātanga Reo, recognising their authority and expertise in programme content, cultural integrity, and pedagogy. While operational, HR, and financial accountability rest with the Pou Whakarae, decisions are informed by the guidance and knowledge of the Mātanga Reo to ensure programme delivery aligns with Te Ataarangi principles and the organisation’s kaupapa. The Pou Whakarae also maintains a direct reporting and advisory relationship with the Board of Trustees.

Requirements

Your application will include the following questions:

  • How many years' experience do you have as a Business Leader?
  • How would you rate your te reo Maori language skills?
  • How many years of business management experience do you have?
  • Have you completed a Xero Payroll certification?
  • Have you worked in a role which requires a sound understanding of employment & workplace relations?
  • Have you completed a qualification in teaching?
  • What's your expected annual base salary?
