What you will be doing:
- Leading and mentoring the Financial Accountant, creating clarity, confidence and a strong sense of purpose.
- Providing high-quality financial advice, reporting and insights to the CFO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
- Managing budgets, financial planning cycles and statutory reporting with accuracy and care.
- Overseeing finance systems and processes, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Contributing to strategy and policy development, and helping translate that direction into meaningful day to day mahi.
- Building trusted relationships with internal teams, external partners and Māori groups across the region.
- Ensuring compliance, governance and risk frameworks are strong, understood and consistently applied.
- Promoting a safe and healthy workplace, supporting the hauora of the Finance Team and wider organisation.
- This is a full-time role, with flexibility and the option to work from home part of the week
Overview
Requirements
The ideal Finance and Compliance Manager:
- Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) or equivalent, with a tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or business.
- Significant leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage and develop staff and foster a positive, high performing team culture.
- Strong technical capability across financial management, systems and reporting, with excellent attention to detail and follow through.
- Deep experience in compliance across financial, legislative, health and safety and contractual areas.
- Confident advising senior leaders, engaging with Boards and preparing clear, detailed reports suitable for governance level review.
- Skilled in policy development, system improvement and process efficiency.
- Experience preparing business cases and supporting large funding or grant applications.
- Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including working effectively with tangata whenua, community groups and a wide range of partners.
- Strategic thinker with sound judgement and the ability to balance big picture outcomes with day to day detail.
- Openness to learning and incorporating te reo Māori and tikanga into everyday work.
- A full, clean driver's licence.
