Requirements

Kia ekena a angitū | To promote success in this role, you will have

  • Personal Experience with Mental Health and or Addiction challenges is essential
  • Lived Experience of Mental Health concerns that resulted in receiving psychiatrist level of care
  • An established Recovery Plan, with ongoing wellbeing strategies
  • Advocacy/peer support training or similar is preferred e.g. New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) with strand in Mental Health and Addiction Support
  • Experience and be comfortable promoting mental wellness on an individual and at a community level
  • The ability to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing training and development
  • The ability to practice in a recovery and strengths-focused way
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient skills using a computer and preferably experience using client management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team
  • Excellent organisation skills and able to take responsibility for completion of tasks
  • A strong work ethic, demonstrated by a high level of integrity, reliability, efficiency, and self-management
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • The ability to demonstrate practical understanding of the aspirations and challenges facing Māori communities
  • Experience in applying tikanga Māori as it applies in the role (desirable)
  • A full, clean NZ Driver Licence.
