Overview

These grants will assist Ngaa Rauru uri who are in their final year of their secondary schooling by contributing 

towards their school fees, learning resources, extra-curricular school actvities. 

Eligibility Requirements

Grants are open to all Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi uri registered with Te Kaahui o Rauru who are engaged in some form of 

education, learning or development who are Year 13, or who are enrolled in a recognised tertiary institution. 

There is no age restrictriction on eligibility and Grants are open to full and part-time students who are studying in the 2025 

study year. 


You can apply for more than one (1) grant; however, you will only receive a maximum of one (1) grant per applicant. 


An application is complete when applicants (or their parents/legal guardian for those under 18) have satisfied the 

following: 

  • Whakapapa to Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi and are registered with Te Kaahui o Rauru. 
  • Submit a fully completed 2025 He Pikinga Poupou Grants Online application via the Maaori Education Trust 
  • Portal. 
  • Provide proof of enrolment in a recognised Secondary School/Wharekura/College within Aotearoa at Year 
  • 13 level. 
  • Provide proof of enrolment in a recognised tertiary institution or training establishment in Aotearoa 
  • (Tertiary study & training only). 
  • Provide proof of course fees e.g. invoice, statement of account (all grants). 
  • Provide proof of related resources purchased e.g. receipts, statement of account. 
  • Bank verified proof of bank account which clearly state the name of the applicant (or parent/legal guardian for those under 18), the bank account and the name of the bank. i.e. bank statement (no banking app screenshots). 

Recipients of these grants are encouraged to actively partcipate in hapuu/marae and Iwi actvities and initatves.  


Selection Process

  • Grant recipients may be asked to provide a quarterly, semester or completion progress report to the commitee – particularly those who have applied for grants in previous years.   
  • Grant recipients may be showcased in the Annual Report and/or newsleter therefore we ask all applicants to submit either a video file or submission about themselves, their areas of study (Tertoary), their aspirations for their future (all grants) and how receipt of the He Pikinga Poupou Education Grant will help to contribute to these aspirations. 
  • Commitment to active participation in kaupapa aa Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi whether it be partcipation in hapuu/marae and/or Iwi actvites and kaupapa will be considered as part of the decision of the commitee.
