These grants will assist Ngaa Rauru uri who are in their final year of their secondary schooling by contributing towards their school fees, learning resources, extra-curricular school activities.
Eligibility Requirements
Grants are open to applicants that meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi descent and registered with Te Kaahui o Rauru.
• Reside in Aotearoa.
• Be studying in 2026 and will commence study before July 2026.
• Be enrolled with a government recognised secondary school/Wharekura (Year 13) or tertiary institution in Aotearoa.
• Applicants who have previously received He Pikinga Poupou Grants for tertiary study and training must have achieved a minimum 75% pass rate in the most recent year of funded study and must provide supporting evidence of these academic results.
Selection Process
Applications will be processed on receipt. This includes all applicants receiving notification of the application’s receipt. Applications will be reviewed by the Te Kaahui o Rauru Education Grants Committee and are considered in line with the eligibility criteria and a weighted assessment matrix. The committee decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into – there is no appeals process.
The Application Process timeframe is as follows:
• 14 January 2026 – Applications OPEN
• 31 March 2026 – Application CLOSE
• May 2026 – Te Kaahui o Rauru Education Grants committee considers applications.
• June 2026 – Letters are sent notifying applicants of the Grants Committee decision.
• July 2026 – Payments are made.
